User Review and Comment Policy
User Review and Comment Policy
One of the biggest problems other review and complaint sites face is user-generated content pollution. If left unchecked, user reviews and comments can become a breeding ground for flame wars, fake positive reviews, and fake complaints. Our goal with Merchant Maverick is to fix all that. We’re more focused on quality reviews and comments rather than quantity.
We understand that all of you merchants will appreciate reading user reviews that are authentic, and all of you vendors will know that any complaints left on MerchantMaverick.com will be from legitimate business owners that have used your services.
General Comment or Question Rules
Definition: Any type of comment or question that does not directly implicate or praise a particular vendor.
Rules:
- General comments or questions can be completely anonymous if you choose.
- Be cool. Critical is fine, but rude is not.
- Add value to the conversation.
- Be descriptive.“This company sucks!” is not enough info.
- No self-promoting on another vendor’s review.
- No personal attacks.
- No name dropping.
- No flame wars.
- No trolling of other users comments/reviews.
Positive User Review Rules
Definition: Any type of praise for a specific vendor is considered a positive review.
Rules: Positive user reviews will only be published if they are fully-disclosed. Full-disclosure includes, full-name, organization name, and/or website.
Negative User Review (aka Complaint) Rules
Definition: Any type of complaint against a specific vendor is considered a negative review.
Rules: We understand that some folks will not want to publicly display their contact information if they’re posting a negative review. If full-disclosure is provided (full-name, organization name, and/or website) we will gladly publish the review immediately. However, if the user prefers to stay anonymous a valid company email address must be provided so we can privately verify them ourselves.
*Note: If you prefer to stay anonymous your contact information will never be disclosed to the vendor.
Vendor Rebuttal Rules
Definition: A vendor rebuttal is either a general response or a reply to a positive or negative review that the provider has received on MerchantMaverick.com.
Rules: Vendor rebuttals will only be published if they are submitted through a valid company email and include company contact information. No exceptions. That includes all current sales reps and associates of the vendor.
*Note: Vendor’s cannot star-rate their own reviews. If you add a star rating, your rebuttal will not be published.
